Robert Sr. says that he began his hair career in 1958 as a way to avoid working in his father’s butcher shop. He developed a passion for the art and began training with Rudemar, Vidal Sassoon, Robert Pearson and Paul Mitchell. After owning salons in Philadelphia and New Jersey, Robert Sr. and his family relocated to Naples in 1977 in search of warmer climes. Before opening his first Naples salon, he was artistic director of Eva Kovacs Beauty Emporium, styling the hair of the “sagacious, the woman who stands out in a crowd … quietly …elegantly.”
The gifted Robert of Philadelphia gained recognition and quickly attracted high society and the many talented artists who styled their hair.
Robert believed that hair is influenced by the customer’s personality and lifestyle, as well as fashion trends and seasonal changes.
Robert DiLella Sr. passed away shortly after the 35th Anniversary November 27, 2015. Son Robert DiLella Jr., known as Rob, currently oversees salon operations along with his sister Tracey.
